College of Marin Community Education Balkan folk dance class starts starts on Wedensday, October 28 and goes to December 9 at Village Square #5 on the Kentfield campus Wednesdays from 12:10 to 3:30 P.M. October 2 & 3 (Friday & Saturday): Armenian Festival at St. Vartan's Armenian Church, 650 Spruce Street, Oakland. Music by DJ Raffi Senekeremian on Friday and Katchig Jingirian Saturday. Sayat Nvaq Ensemble to play on Saturday at 4:00 P.M. For more information call (510) 893-1671.

October 2 (Friday): The Stanford International Folk Dancers host a dance party with Bulgarian music provided by Vassil and Maria Bebelekov and friends at the First Baptist Church, 305 N. California Avenue, Palo Alto from 8:00 to 11:00 P.M. Admission is $10.00 and $5.00 for students. Bring snacks and beverages to share. October 2 (Friday): Richard Powers (the choreographer) and Mirage Mirrou will teach Bohemian National Polka and Tom Hill will teach introductory Waltz class also, Richard will DJ Waltzes and Polkas for the Friday Night Waltz group at First United Methodist Church, upstairs, Fellowship Hall, 625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto from 7:00 P.M. to Midnight. Admission is $12.00 for both classes and the dance, $8.00 for the dance only and $8.00 for students. No partner necessary. All ages welcome. October 9 (Friday): Hungarian dance with Linda and Nils featuring Nezosegi and Kalotaszegi at Hayward Area Senior Center, 22325 North Third Street, Hayward at 8:00 P.M. For more information contact Nils.

October 9 (Friday): Berkeley Balkan Bacchanal with music by Fanfare Zambaleta, kala, and Dromeno at The Starry Plough, 3102 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley at 9:00 P.M. Admission is $10.00 to $15.00 on a sliding scale at the door.

October 10 (Saturday): Peninsula Folk Dance Council presents a free pre-party workshop with Claude Akana teaching Kloca from Bulgaria followed by an All-request dance party MC'd by Adony Beniares and Ken Kye at St. Bede's Church Hall, 2650 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park with the workshop from 7:15 to 8:00 P.M. and the party from 8:00 to 10:45 P.M. Admision is $7.00.

October 10 (Saturday): Café Shalom meets for Israeli dancing at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, 1399 – 43rd Avenue, at Judah, San Francisco from 7:30 to 11:30 P.M.  Admission is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students.  For more information contact rofromsf@gmail.com.

October 17 (Saturday): Movable Feet invite you to "Dances from the Balkans", a workshop with Hliot Khuner teaching Krivo Sadovsko, Kraidunavsko (not Jaap's) and Mihalska Kopanica followed by an all-request party at St. Bede's Church Hall, 2650 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park with the workshop from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. and the party from 8:00 to 10:15 P.M. October 23 - 25 (Friday - Sunday): Sacred Circle Dance workshop by Stefan and Bethan Freedman teaching Balkan and other European dances as well at their own choreographies at Hillside Church, El Cerrito.

October 24 (Saturday): The Federation's Annual Officers' Ball: "A Musical Cruise Around the World" with dance workshops, a light dinner and an evening celebrations with dances from the workshop and requests at the Veteran's Memorial Hall, 1325 Portland Avenue, Albany from 1:00 to 10:00 P.M.
