October 1 (Tuesday): A seven week Couple Dancing class, taught by Richard Powers and Mirage Marrou, begins at the First United Methodist Church, upstairs, Fellowship Hall, 625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto from 7:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. Beginning Swing and Waltz, Lindy Hop and Tango will be taught. Cost is $25.00 for students and $50.00 for everyone else. This will be the last Tuesday class taught by Richard Powers. October 4 (Friday): Richard Powers and Angele Amarillas teach Oktoberfest variations and present a Zweifacher Party and Tom Hill teaches introductory waltz also Richard will dj waltzes and polkas for the Friday Night Waltz group at First United Methodist Church, upstairs, Fellowship Hall, 625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto from 7:00 P.M. to Midnight. Admission is $12.00 for both classes and the dance, $8.00 for the dance only and $8.00 for students. No partner necessary. All ages welcome. October 5 & 6 (Saturday & Sunday): Introductory Weekend: Helene Eriksen teaches Woman's Dances of the Orient, as part of the Bay Area Anar Dana Project, at Hoover Theater, Dance Studio, 1635 Park Avenue, San Jose from 11:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. October 5 (Saturday): Start of a Full Speciality Workshop in Azerbaijani Dance, taught by Nancy Rose Akatas and Farima Berenji at Thhe Azerbaijani Culture Society of Northern California, 16400 Lark Avenue, Suite 260, Los Gatos from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. October 17 (Thursday): Berkeley Balkan Bacchanal featuring music by Fanfare Zambaleta, Veretski Pass and the Diciples of Markos at the Starry Plough, 3101 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley at 9:00 P.M. Admission is $8.00 to $12.00 on a sliding scale.

October 18 (Friday):Paul Csonka teaches Grooving the the Swing Racetrack and Flashy Swing Dynamo dancing and Tom Hill teaches introductory waltz also Lucas will dj waltzes and polkas for the Friday Night Waltz group at First United Methodist Church, upstairs, Fellowship Hall, 625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto from 7:00 P.M. to Midnight. October 19 & 20 (Saturday & Sunday): Dance Workshops at the Hill side Club, 2280 Dedar Street, Berkeley with Waltz and Swing on Saturday and Salsa and Waltz (review and more) on Sunday; both from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. October 19 (Saturday): Plovdiv Party Bus band plays music for listening and dancing at Live Oak Grange, Santa Cruz from 8:00 to 11:00 P.M. Admission is $12.00 plus tips for the band. Bring finger food (no kitchen available).

October 20 (Sunday): 2013 San Francisco Croatian Heritage Festival, featuring the music of Sinovi of Seattle, the Slavonian Traveling Band, Sidro and the Croatian Kolo Group Veseli Hrvati at the Croatian American Cultural Center, 60 Onondaga Avenue, at Alemany, San Francisco with the doors opening at 1:00 P.M., the program starts a 2:00 P.M. and the live music goes from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. October 20 (Sunday): Gradina to play music for listening and dancing at the Russian River Rose Company, 1685 Magnolia Deive, Healdsburg at Noon and 2:00 P.M. October 24 (Thursday): True Life Trio play music for listening and dancing at Rose Labyrinth, 2138 Dedar Street, Berkeley at 7:30 P.M. Admission is from $10.00 to $40.00.

October 25 (Friday): Kopachka Folk Dancer host their annual Fall Hardly Strictly Balkan Folk Dance Party, featuring the music of Zabava! Izvorno, at Scout Hall, 177 East Blythdale avenue, Mill Valley from 8:00 to 11:00 P.M. Admission is $10.00 and includes light refreshments. Bring snacks to share. October 26 (Friday):Christophe teaches blues followed by Thriller and Tom Hill teaches introductory waltz also Jason Anderson will dj waltzes and polkas with a Holloween theme for the Friday Night Waltz group at First United Methodist Church, upstairs, Fellowship Hall, 625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto from 7:00 P.M. to Midnight. October 26 (Saturday): Folk Dance Federation Officer's Ball at the Veteran's Memorial Hall in Livermore. Nine dances will be taught, folowed by dinner and dancing to live music until 10:00 P.M. Admission is $30.00. For more information contact Loui Tucker.

October 26 (Saturday): Greek Glendi with Edessa at St. Gregory of Nyssa Episcopal Church, 500 DeHaro StreeT, between Mariposa and 18th Street, San Francisco at 7:45 P.M. Admission is $15.00. This event is hosted by GreekFeet. For more information contact Mary Ann Karonis.

October 26 (Saturday): Klezcaliforina Yiddish Cultural Festival featuring a concert and dance party with the Strauss/Warchauer Duo and Veretski Pass groups playing Klezmer music for dancing at the Magnes Collection of Jewish Art and Life, 2121 Alston Way, between Shattuck and Oxford, Berleley from 8:00 to 10:30 P.M. Admission is $10.00 to $20.00 per event or for the whole Festival: $60.00 for adults, $30.00 for teens and $12.00 for kids 12 and under.

October 27 (Sunday): KlezCalifornia Festival afterparty featuring Yiddishe Serenaders, Orchestra Euphonos, and Nine Nine Nine at the Subteranean Arthouse, 2169 Bancroft Way, Berkeley at 8:00 P.M. Admission is from $10.00 to $20.00. For more infomation contact Michael Perlmutter.

October 31 (Thursday): Halloween folk dance party hosted by Mandala at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Bowcock Hall, 43rd Avenue, at Judah, San Francisco from 7:30 to 10:30 P.M. Entrance is on the 43rd Avenue side, behind the small parking lot. Admission is 5.00. Food and rfreshments will be provided, but feel free to bring a snack or drink to share.
