May 1 (Friday): The Stanford International Folk Dancers host a dance Party featuring the music of Sviraci playing Bulgarian and Macedonian dances at the First Baptist Church, 305 N. California Avenue, Palo Alto from 8:00 to 11:00 P.M. Admission is free in celebration of Bay Area Dance Week. For more information contact Owen at (650) 966-1775.

May 1 (Friday): Nick and Melissa will teach Rotary Waltz and The Cinderella Vairations (based on the movie) and Tom Hill will teach Introductory Waltz also, Nick will DJ Waltzes and Polkas for the Friday Night Waltz group at First United Methodist Church, upstairs, Fellowship Hall, 625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto from 7:00 P.M. to Midnight. Admission is $12.00 for both classes and the dance, $8.00 for the dance only and $8.00 for students. No partner necessary. All ages welcome. May 2 (Saturday): Voice of Roma presents the 18th Annual California Herdeljezi Festival at the Croatian American Cultural Center, 60 Onondaga, at Alemany, San Francisco in the afternoon and evening. Music will be by Sazet Romani wedding band and Sani Rifati will teach a dance workshop. There will be a dance party and Romani/Balkan food will be available. Admission is $20.00 each for the singing and Instrumental workshops and $20.00 in advance or $25.00 at the door for the dance party or $60.00 for all. May 8 (Friday): Berkeley Balkan Bacchanal with music by Balkalicious Fire Drive adn Orchestra Euphonos at The Starry Plough, 3102 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley at 9:00 P.M. Admission is $10.00 to $15.00 on a sliding scale at the door.

May 9 (Saturday): Hungarian Heritage Festival with live music for dancing etc. at Belmont Twin Pines Park, 1225 Ralston Avenue, Belmont from 11:30 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. Mwy 9 (Saturday): Peninsula Council Party with a pre-party workshop by Melissa Miller and Lew Smith teaching Hora Lautareasca (Romania) at St. Bede's Church, 2650 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park with the workshop from 7:15 to 8:00 P.M. and the party, MC'd by Loui Tucker goes from 8:00 to 10:45 P.M. Admission is $7.00.

May 9 (Saturday): Ninth Annual Magic of the Rhodope Mountains with Tanya Kostova and Aniika Bulgaria at the Jazzercise Fitness Center, 10837 San Pablo Avenue, El Cerrito with workshops from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M., a potluck dinner at 7:30 P.M. and a concert and dance party with Maria and Vasil Bebelekov and Rumen Sali Shopov at 8:00 P.M. May 9 & 10 (Saturday & Sunday): Helene Eriksen and the Anar Bana Bay ARea Project present Dances Under the Crescent Moon 2, a special evening of Women's Dance of the Orient, at the Internatinal Studies Academy, 655 De Haro Street, San Francisco at 8:00 P.M. on Saturday and 2:00 P.M. on Sunday. May 22 - 25 (Friday - Monday): 15th Annual Antika Bulgaria Festival of Sts. Cyril and Methodius with a warm-up party at Jazzercise, 10837 San Pablo Avenue, El Cerrito from 7:30 to 10:00 P.M. ($15.00), the first day of the festival at the Croatian American Cultural Center, 60 Onondaga Avenue, at Alemany, San Francisco from 3:00 P.M. to Midnight ($25.00), a Festival on Wheels arriving at the Civic Center, San Francisco at 1:30 P.M. and the conclusion of the festival at Holy Cross Monastery, 34580 Palomares Road, Castro Valley at 11:00 A.M. May 24 (Sunday): Edessa to play Balkan music for listening and dancing at the Revolution Cafe, 3248 - 22nd Street, San Francisco from 8:30 to 11:30 P.M. There is no cover charge.

May 25 (Monday): Movable Feet host a Balkan dancw workshop with Erik Bendix at St. Bede's Church, 2650 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. followed by a potluck from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. For more information contact Lucy Chang.
