May 1 (Tuesday): Anoush to play Southern Balkan music for dancing at Ashkenaz, 1317 San Pablo Avenue at Gilman, Berkeley. There will be teaching by Lise Leipman at 8:00 P.M. and the music starts at 9:00 P.M. Admission is $8.00. For more information call (510) 632-3713.

May 2 (Wednesday): Join Jerry Grcevich and Ray (Raczar) Lopatic (OF SVIRAJ) for an evening of great Slavic music. Jerry and Ray are two of the best musicians in the USA. Jerry will play prim and brac and Ray will play guitar and violin, and sing until we say he can stop. BISTRO E EUROPE is located at 4901 Mission at France in San Francisco. May 4: (Friday): Zaedno will be playing Bulgarian and Macedonian music for dancing at the Stanford Folk Dancers at Flex-it Aerobic Studios, 425 W. Evelyn Ave., Mountain View from 8:00 to 11:00 P.M.

May 5 (Saturday): Herdeljez Festival at the Graton Day Labor Center, Downtown Graton (101 North to Hwy 116, Northwest three miles past Sebastopol, left on Graton Road, follow signs) from 2:00 P.M. until long after dark. Cinco de Mayo will also be celebrated. Edessa, Anoush, amongst others will play music for dancing. Admission is $12.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids under 5. May 5 (Saturday): A concert and folk dance party with live music provided by Vecernica at City College of San Francisco, North Gym, 50 Phelan Ave., at Ocean Ave. The concert, featuring Los Decanos de Stanford and CCSF folk and ballroom dance teams will begin at 7:30 P.M. and general dancing starts at 8:30 P.M. May 15 (Tuesday): Edessa to play live Balkan music with other events at Ashkenaz, 1317 San Pablo Avenue at Gilman, Berkeley. The S. F. World Music Festival sponsors this event. At 7:00 P.M., there will be a discussion of the unoin of folk music and dance. At 8:00 P.M. Cascade de Flores (P'urhepecha people of Michoacan, Mexico and at 9:30 P.M., Edessa will play.

A Bay Area cultural festival honoring the brothers Kiril and Metody, saviours of the Slav language at the Slavonic Cultural Center, 60 Onondaga Ave. at Alemany, San Francisco from 7:30 P.M. Saratoga International Folk Dancers, founded April, 1980 -- 20 years at the same location: Saratoga Community Center, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue (across the street from the P.O), Saratoga, California. Changs International Folk Dancers: Meets the first four Fridays of each month at 8 PM at the 7th Avenue Presbyterian Church, 1329 - 7th Avenue (between Irving and Judah) in San Francisco. Teaching on the first two Fridays, party night on the third Friday, and requests and other fun programming on the fourth Friday; call ahead as the schedule varies at times.
