January 6 (Monday): International Folk Dance class with Carol Friedman starts today through May 5 at Herman Sons Hall, 860 Western AVenue, Petaluma from 7:00 to 9:15 P.M. All levels welcome. January 7 (Tuesday): First day of a five week couple dancing class taught by Richard Powers and Mirage Marrou at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Palo Alto from 7:00 to 10:00 P.M. Classes will include: Introductory Salsa and Che-Cha, Mastering the Viennese Ball dances and West Coast Swing. Cost for all five classes is $25.00 for students and $40.00 for everyone else. January 10 & 11 (Friday & Saturday): The Peninsula Folkdance Council present their Annual Heritage Festival at Sequoia High School, Gym 3, 1201 Brewster Avenue, Redwood City. The Friday evening party features music by Agapi Mou and recorded music from 7:00 to 10:30 P.M. The Saturday Institute features Israeli dances taught by Erica Goldman. The Saturday evening party features the music of Susan Worland and Friends and recorded music from 6:30 to 10:30 P.M. Admission is $10.00 for each evening's party and $15.00 for the institute. January 10 (Friday): Berkeley Balkan Bacchanal present a party with music provided by Zabava and La Peche at the Starry Plough, 3101 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley with the doors opening at 8:00 P.M. and the music starts at 9:00 P.M. Admission is $8.00 to $12.00 on a sliding scale. Balkan music musicians are welcome to come and play with the core band in a free-wheeling jam session.

January 10 (Friday): Kopachka Folk Dancers present a workshop featuring Yves Moreau's Bulgarian dances: Staro Bansko Oro and Deninka taught by Sue Willard at Scout Hall, 177 East Blythdale Avenue, Mill Valley from 7:30 to 10:30 P.M. January 11 (Saturday): Israeli folk dance party at Cafe Shalom, St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Bowcock Hall, 1399 - 43rd Avenue, at Judah, San Francisco from 7:30 P.M. to 11:30 P.M. Admission is $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. For more information send email to toktok124@yahoo.com.

January 15 (Wednesday): Beginning Folk Dance class, lasting 18 weeks, taught by Marilyn Smith starts today from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. at Santa Rosa Junior College, Tauzer Gym, Santa Rosa. January 18 (Saturday): Tanchaz, Hungarian Dance-House at the Croatian American Cultural Center, 60 Onondaga, at Alemany, San Francisco with a children's workshop at 3:00 P.M., an adult's workshop at 4:00 P.M. Dinner at 5:00 P.M., mini-lecture at 6:00 P.M., mini-concert at 6:30 P.M. and dancing to music by Forras at 8:00 P.M.

January 18 (Saturday): Folk Dance party with the theme: "Bulgaria", sponsored by the Moveable Feet Club, at St. Bede's Church Hall, 2650 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park from 7:00 to 10:45 P.M. Admission is $7.00. For more information visit the Folk Dance Federation website.
