January 4 (Friday): Stanford International Dancers present a Traditional Armenian Dance Workshop with Hasmik Harutyunyan at the First Baptist Church, Event Hall, 305 N. California Avenue, Palo Alto from 8:00 to 11:00 P.M. Admission is $15.00 for adults and $7.50 for Students. Children are free. Schedule will include recreational and request dancing. January 4 (Friday): Tom Hill to teach introductory Waltz also Nick will dj waltzes and polkas for the Friday Night Waltz group at First United Methodist Church, upstairs, Fellowship Hall, 625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto from 7:00 P.M. to Midnight. Admission is $12.00 for both classes and the dance, $8.00 for the dance only and $8.00 for students. No partner necessary. All ages welcome. January 4 (Friday): Jerry Duke to teach Ploracica Olteneasca and Ovcepolska at Changs International Folk Dancers, Lincoln Park Presbyterian Church, 31st Avenue and Clement Street, San Francisco at 7:00 P.M. followed by request dancing at 8:00 P.M.

January 9 (Wednesday): Nada Lewis and Jon Schreiber play music for music and dancing at Le Bateau Ivre, 2629 Telegraph Avenue, Berkeley with dinner starting at 5:00 and the performance from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. There is no cover charge.

January 11 (Friday): Sixty-third Annual Heritage Festival with a folk dance party presented by Marcel Vinokur and Lucy Chang at the Community United Church of Christ 1336 Arroyo Avenue, San Carlos from 6:30 to 11:30 P.M. January 12 (Saturday): Sixty-third Annual Heritage Festival with an institute taught by Tom Sha, Lynn Overtree and Tony Canavarro from !:00 to 4:00 P.M. and a Folk Dance Party with music provided by Stockton Kapelal and request dancing by Denise Heenan and Loui Tucker from 6:30 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. at the Community United Church of Christ, 1336 Arroyo Avenue, San Carlos and there will be a Folk Dance Federation Board Meeting from 10:30 A. M. to 12:00 P.M. This event is sponsored by the Peninsula Folk Dance Council. Admission is $8.00 for the party and $15.00 for the institute. January 12 (Saturday): Agapi Mou to play World and Balkan music for listening and dancing (acoustically) at Zaki Kabob House, 1101 San Pablo Avenue, at Dartmouth Street, Albany from world music from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. and Balkan music from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. January 16 on (Wednesdays): Beginning Folk dance class begins at Santa Rosa Junior College in the Tauzer Gym Room 905 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. For more information contact the teacher, Marilyn Smith.

January 16 (Wednesday): Zamanna Play music from the Middle East and Levant for listening and dancing at Le Bateau Ivre, 2629 Telegraph Avenue, Berkeley with dinner seating beginning at 5:00 P.M. and music is from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. There is no cover charge.

January 17 on (Thursdays): Beginning European Folk Dance class and Folk Dance Production class begin at City College of San Francisco, Performance Studio 301, Wellness Center, 50 Phelan Avenue, at Ocean Avenue, San Francisco at 6:10 P.M. January 17 (Thursday): Berkeley Balkan Bacchanal present a Klezmer Extravanganza featuring the music of The Gonifs (a CD release party) and Veretski Pass at the Starry Plough, 3101 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley with the doors opening at 8:00 P.M. and the music starts at 9:00 P.M. Admission is $8.00 to $12.00 on a sliding scale.

January 18 (Friday): Friday Night Waltz: Richard and Tracey Powers teach intermediate Grapevine Variations to Cross Step Waltz followed by the improved version of the Metamora Waltz and Tom Hill to teach introductory Waltz also Nick will dj waltzes and polkas for the Friday Night Waltz group at First United Methodist Church, upstairs, Fellowship Hall, 625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto from 7:00 P.M. to Midnight. January 19 (Saturday): Cretan Glendi with musicians Markos Renieris, Vanni Polychronalis, and Lefteris Strylligas from Crete at Annuncian Cathedral, 245 Valencia Street, San Francisco with no-host cocktails at 6:00 P.M., Dinner and dancing at 7:00 P.M. and dancing only from 9:00 P.M. Admission is $55.00 adults and $30.00 under 18 and $20.00 for dancing only. Valet parking is available. Proceeds from thei benefit will support the Epimenides/ariadne Scholarship fund. January 19 & 20 (Saturday & Sunday): San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival auditiions (open to the public) at lam Research Theater (Formerly the Novellus Theater), Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco Saturday 2:00 p.M. to 10:00 P.M. and Sunday 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Admission is $10.00 and Kids under 12 are free and includes in-and-out privileges.

January 25 (Friday): Richard Powers and Angela Amarillas to teach One-Step Variations and Grapevine Variatins in the Cross-Step Waltz and Tom Hill will teach introductory Waltz also Nick will dj waltzes and polkas for the Friday Night Waltz group at First United Methodist Church, upstairs, Fellowship Hall, 625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto from 7:00 P.M. to Midnight.
