January 6 (Friday): Armenian dance workshop by Hasmik Harutyunyan for the Stanford International Folk Dancers at the First Baptist Church, Event Hall, 305 N. California Avenue, Palo Alto from 8:00 to 11:00 P.M. Admission is $15.00 for adults and $7.50 for students. Children are free.

January 11 (Wednesday): Armenian dance workshop by Hasmik Harutyunyan and live music by Balkalicious Fire Drive (a new band) at Ashkenaz, 1317 San Pablo Avenue, at Gilman, Berkeley with the dooors opening at 7:30 P.M. and the music starts at 8:30 P.M. January 13 (Friday): Erik Bendix to teach a Balkan Dance workshop at the Albany YMCA, 921 Kains Street, Albany with the lesson at 8:00 and request dancing until 11:00.

January 15 (Sunday): Advanced Balkan Folk Dance class at Ashkenaz, back studio, 1317 San Pablo Avenue, at Gilman, Berkeley at 2:00 P.M. Todd Wagner will review dances: Deli Becar and some Gypsy dances. Admission is $5.00 at the Door.

January 16 (Monday): Special Greek dance workshop with Joe Graziosi for GreekFeet at the Presidio Performing Arts Center, 386 Arguello, at Moraga, Presidio of San Francisco from 7:30 to 9:30 P.M. Damission is $15.00. For more information contact Mary Ann Karonis.

January 19 (Thursday): The Berkeley Balkan Bacchanal featuring the music of Zoyres, Janam and the Diciples of Markos at the Starry Plough, 3101 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley with the doors opening at 8:00 and the music starts at 9:00 P.M. Admission is $5.00 to $10.00 on a sliding scale.

January 28 (Saturday): Tanya Kostova presents an authentic music and dance party with music from Malishevsko, Macedonia at the Jazzercise Fitness Center, 10837 San Pablo Avenue, El Cerrito at 6:00 P.M.

January 29 (Sunday): 2011 Sveti Vlaho Festa with John Morovich from Seattle at the Nativity Parish Hall, 240 Fell Street, between Gough and Franklin Streets, San Francisco with Mass, followed by blessing of throats, at 9:30 A.M., lunch at 11:00 A.M., and the program starts at Noon. Admission only is $5.00 for adults, and children under 18 are free; admission with lunch is $20.00 for adults, $5.00 for youth 13 - 18, and children under 13 are free. Dessert donations are welcome.
