January 12 (Friday): International Folk Dance Party at First Christian Church, San Jose at 8:00 P.M. Sponsored by the Santa Clara Valley Folk Dancers. For more information call (650) 494-1631.

January 12 - 13 (Friday and Saturday): The Peninsula Folk Dance Council invites all dancers to the Annual January Heritage Festival, this year honoring our Croatian Heritage. The Friday night party will begin at 7:45 P.M. with Marcel Vinokur. On Saturday, there will be an institute at 1:30, featuring Croatian and Czech dances from the Stockton Folk Dance Camp and an international dance party at 8:00 P.M. There will be exhibitions and refreshments will be served. Costumes are encouraged. This event will occur at the Community United Church of Christ, Elm and Arroyo Streets, San Carlos. January 24 (Wednesday): Accordionist/composer Milen Slavov and vocalist Zhivka Papancheva will perform in Santa Clara University's "Music at Noon" concert series in the SCU Center of Performing Arts Recital hall. They will present an hour concert of Bulgarian traditional works and original compositions. Admission to "Music at Noon" is free and everyone is welcome! Saratoga International Folk Dancers, founded April, 1980 -- 20 years at the same location: Saratoga Community Center, 13777 Fruitvale Avenue (across the street from the P.O), Saratoga, California. Usually 1 "beginner" level dance and one "intermediate/advanced" A group of anywhere from 5-15 goes out to a nearby eatery afterwards until 11:00 PM.
