August 1 (Friday): Nick and Melissa will teach Bachata and Clandestine Mazurka (Tango Mazurka) Part Three and Tom Hill will teach Introductory Waltz also, Nick will DJ Waltzes and Polkas for the Friday Night Waltz group at First United Methodist Church, upstairs, Fellowship Hall, 625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto from 7:00 P.M. to Midnight. Admission is $12.00 for both classes and the dance, $8.00 for the dance only and $8.00 for students. No partner necessary. All ages welcome. August 6 - 27 (Wednesdays): Start of a new Greek Folk Dance/Circle Dance series taught by Kristalli Papadopoulos at the San Rafael Community Center, 618 B-Street, San Rafael from 7:30 to 9:00 P.M. August 10 (Sunday): Sandra Layman with Joshua Horowitz and Stuart Brotman ofVerteski Pass play a special concert of Klezmer, Greek Romanian and Eastern European music at Delilah and Karen's house in Bernal Heights, San Francisco from 7:30 to 9:00 P.M. admission is $20.00. There will also be a violin workshop before the concert and lessons will be available on Monday. For more information, and for reservations (required), contact Delilah.

August 11 (Monday): Balkan Dance Cabal with Nadav Nur reviewing recently taught dances at the Back studio at Ashkenaz, 1317 San Pablo Avenue, at Gilman, Berkeley from 7:30 to 9:30 P.M. Admission is $5.00. For more information contact Richard at (510) 524-3611.

August 12 (Tuesday): Balkan band Gradina to play a few dances for Santa Rosa Summer Dancing at Lomitas Schoolhouse, 2421 Lomitas Avenue, Santa Rosa with request recordings from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. and Gradina plays a short set at 7:30 P.M. Admission is $4.00. For more information contact Rebecca.

August 15 (Friday): For their 13 Anniversary Reunion Dance, Mirage Marrou, Richard Power's teaching partner, will teach Fast Track One=Step and "In Da Club" Two Step and Tom Hill will teach Introductory Waltz also, John Bower will DJ Waltzes and Polkas for the Friday Night Waltz group at First United Methodist Church, upstairs, Fellowship Hall, 625 Hamilton Avenue, Palo Alto from 7:00 P.M. to Midnight. August 17 (Sunday): Eliyahu Sills invites you to Eliyahu and the Qadim Ensemble's celebration of Eilyahu's 40th Birthday and Bolo Dance Party at Cloud 9, 1320 - 9th Street, Berkeley from 7:30 to 11:45 P.M.

August 20 (Wednesdays): Beginner Folk Dance class begins at Santa Rosa Junior College, called Dance 40, and meets on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:30 P.M. To register visit www.santarosa.edu. For more information contact the teacher, Marilyn Smith.

August 22 (Friday): Pitchblak Summer Band with Fanfare Zambaleta and Brass Bank Mission to play music for listening and dancing at Neck of the Woods, 405 Clement Street, San Francisco at 9:00 P.M.

August 22 - 24 (Friday - Sunday): Castro Valley Greek Festival at Resurrection Church of Castro Valley, 20074 Center Street, Castro Valley from Noon to 10:00 P.M. (8:00 P.M. Sunday). Admission is free. For more information call (510) 581-8850.

August 23 (Saturday): The Moveable Feet Club host a dance workshop and potluck dinner showcasing dances 0taught during the Summer workshops and camps at St. Bede's Church, 2650 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park from 2:00 to 8:30 P.M.(maybe later). August 29 (Friday): Turkish and Romanian Non-Partner Dance workshop with Katherine Abbot at Changs, Lincoln Park Presbyterian Church, 417 - 31st Avenue, San Francisco from 7:30 to 10:30 P.M. Admission is $5.00.

August 30 - September 1 (Saturday - Monday): Belmont Greek Festival at Holy Cross Church, 900 Alameda de Las Pulgas, at Ralston, Belmont from Noon to 10:00 P.M. (8:00 P.M. Sunday). Admission is $5.00 general, $2.50 seniors and youth and children under 12 are free. For more information call (650) 591-4447.

August 23 & 24 (Saturday & Sunday): Turkish Arts and Culture Festival, with Folk Dancing, at the Custom House Plaza, Monterey from 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. Food and drinks, and many activities will be available.
